Comments, sharing, a side-by-side preview, and a lot of polish

Thanks to everyone who signed up this week and sent feedback — it directly shaped this release. Here's everything we shipped.

Comments & collaboration

  • Comment on a specific selection of text, not just the whole doc.
  • Pasting Markdown now formats correctly instead of arriving as plain text.
  • Hover any highlighted text to read its comment inline — no need to open the sidebar.
  • Each comment thread now shows the exact text it's attached to.
  • Comment highlights now appear in reading / preview mode too.
  • Add a comment anywhere with ⌘⌥M (Cmd+Option+M).

Editing

  • Typing ## (or any number of #) then space no longer jumps your cursor to the front of the line.
  • Change a heading's level right from the start of the line — type # to go deeper, Backspace to come back up.
  • Task checkboxes are clickable — check things off with the mouse.
  • Code blocks and inline code now have a clear background so they stand out.
  • Start a code block by pressing Enter after ``` (not just Space).
  • Collapsible headings work — fold a section from the chevron even with your cursor inside it.

Side-by-side preview (desktop)

  • Toggle a live rendered preview beside the editor — edit on the left, watch it render on the right (great for tables, images, and complex formatting). Resizable, centered by default. Toggle with the columns button or ⌥.

Sharing & docs

  • Open a shared doc straight in the editor from its share link.
  • Make workspace / team docs public — any editor can, not just the owner.
  • Docs created through an API key are now owned by the person who set up the key, never a nameless agent.
  • People show up by username or email everywhere, instead of a raw user id.

Agents

  • Connect your agent with one command — npx skills add skeptrunedev/scribe-skill — no GitHub access or credentials needed (fixes the auth error some agents hit during setup).

Thanks to

This release was driven by your feedback. Special thanks to:

  • Lawrence Liu — comment-on-selection and Markdown paste.
  • Raveesh Bhalla — the cursor-jump fix, the comments UX overhaul, clickable checkboxes, code-block styling, "Open in editor" from share links, and more.
  • Vivek Vibhuti — early feedback and support. [Nick: what did Vivek flag?]
  • Evan Sangaline — early feedback and support. [Nick: what did Evan flag?]
  • @var_epsilon and @ciengalon on X — [Nick: confirm handles + which items they flagged].
  • …and everyone else who wrote in. Keep it coming.
