Scribe’s editing model follows VS Code: multi-cursor everywhere, line operations, find, and folding. Cmd means the Command key on macOS and Ctrl on Windows and Linux, except where Ctrl is written explicitly (those bindings use the Control key on every platform). Every line operation is multi-cursor aware: with several cursors active, the same edit is applied at every cursor in a single undoable transaction, and cursors sharing a line are grouped so line operations apply once per line.

Formatting

Blocks

Each of these toggles the block at the cursor: press it once to apply the format and again to return to a paragraph. These act on the primary selection only — they are not fanned out across secondary multi-cursors.

History

In a collaborative session, undo only reverts your own changes — never a collaborator’s.

Lines

Multi-cursor

With more than one cursor active, the plain arrow keys and their Shift variants move every cursor in parallel, VS Code-style: ←/→ move each caret one character (crossing line boundaries like the native caret; on a selection without Shift they collapse it to its edge), ↑/↓ move each cursor a line while remembering its goal column across short lines, and Shift+arrows extend every selection. Cursors that collide after a move merge into one. Motions that are not fanned out (they move the primary cursor only, natively): word-wise jumps (Alt/Ctrl+←/→) and line- or document-start/end motions (Home/End, Cmd+arrows on macOS). With a single cursor, all arrow keys keep 100% native behavior. Cmd+D follows VS Code’s matching rules: pressed on an empty cursor it selects the word under the cursor and subsequent presses match that word as a whole word only. Pressed on an explicit selection — including a multi-word phrase — it matches the exact selected text, case-sensitively, with no whole-word constraint. Once several occurrences are selected, typing, Backspace, and other edits apply to all of them simultaneously.

Find

Comments

On macOS Alt is the Option key, so this is Option+C there. The shortcut needs a non-empty text selection — with nothing selected it does nothing, matching the selection toolbar, which only appears over selected text. Once the composer is open you can close it without commenting by pressing Esc or clicking anywhere outside it.

Folding

Application

Preview is now the Viewing mode in the mode switcher at the top-right of a document — pick it from the dropdown or toggle it with Cmd+Alt+P. See Markdown for the full Editing / Suggesting / Viewing model.
Press Cmd+/ anywhere (or ? when you are not typing in a field) to open a searchable overlay listing every shortcut on this page, rendered for your platform.
